Prioritizing #SOL15

Read more Slice of Life stories every Tuesday at

It's summer.  Time to relax, reflect and re-energize.

It's also time to
hop around the house,
starting one project
then another
adding to a list
leaving laundry on the couch to fold later.

It's time to
keep the refrigerator filled with food
and the spinning cabinet filled with snacks
and keep track of one daughter's work and school hours
while encouraging the other daughter
to stay focused on her job search and chores.

It's not hard to find things to do.
I feel like the house needs lots of attention.
But then so do my books
and social media (to get more book ideas).

It all comes down to prioritizing.
It's something I'm working to become better at.
Sure, everything gets done
but maybe not in the order it should.
Everything then becomes a priority.

How do other people figure out
what needs to be done
first?

  2. I don't know the secret either---but it seems like many of us are in that particular boat!

  4. If you figure it out please let me know!

  5. I end up hopping from one thing to another and never completing one thing when I start it the first time. I used to not do that. Maybe it's my ripe old age of... 38. Lol

  6. We do so much prioritizing during the school year...shouldn't we allow ourselves a little down time from this at the outset of our summers? I think it is what makes the first days so fabulous - just meandering from one thing to another. Happy summer!

  7. I don't know the secret, either, Maria, sorry. If I have a deadline, like company coming, then I know I must do certain things (bathrooms, sheets, groceries), but prioritizing as to when to do other things, I usually do what suits me, as Maureen says, meandering. Happy Summer!

  8. If you figure out the secret to prioritizing, please let me know. My days sound much like your days. Unfortunately, I have the bad habit of making what I WANT to do have priority over what I NEED to do. #goodproblems

  9. There is no secret...put one foot forward and decide what will make you the happiest or the most relaxed! But heck it's summer so do what makes you the happiest!! Xoxo

  10. I totally agree with Lynn. Do what makes you the happiest. The rest will all fall into place in good time. I found I was better at prioritizing when I worked full time and knew that I HAD to get things done, now it's "whenever". Enjoy your summer and freedom to choose.
