Anxious #SOLC

Some days I second guess every decision of my 21 years of teaching, 26 years as a parent and 52 years as a human.

I spent the morning second guessing ... everything:

stay home or go to school?

turn left or right?

display the books or put on the shelf?

share the video or skip it?

join my colleagues or dine alone?

insist on reading more or give the students a break?

get involved in the argument or walk away?

over-explain or remain vague?

Maybe the anxiety runs deeper this week because of the time change, lack of sleep or impending full moon?

Maybe I can trust that I can make decisions

  1. Your post brings me so much peace as much as that might sound pretty silly. As an educator of only two years it makes me feel more secure in what I am doing knowing even the pros question their decisions too.

    1. Oh, yes! I doubt myself each day - routines are needed? routines are boring?
I guess it's just my quest to be better each day.

  2. Chris, you have had a day of second guesses! Yes, you can trust yourself to make the decisions because here you are after a long hard day, and you decided all those things and more. All the best to you! Your post made me smile and empathize! I can especially relate to "over-explain or remain vague?"

  3. Your list of questions/decisions adds to anxious feeling of this post. I know as teachers, we do make lots of decisions, and that doesn't even include those as a mother an as a human. Let's blame it on the time change! :)
